Friday OTT releases of the week: GDN to Unmadham to Mayday, new movies and shows on Netflix, JioHotstar, Prime Video and more

The weekend is almost here, and if staying in sounds better than heading out, OTT platforms have plenty of new options lined up. This Friday brings a mix of regional dramas, Hollywood action, courtroom stories, comedy and reality entertainment. From a musical story about love and tradition to a Malayalam thriller involving a cold case, there is something for viewers with very different tastes. Here are the new movies and shows arriving on streaming platforms this week.

Jagamae Sangeetham on Prime Video

Jagamae Sangeetham is a Telugu musical drama inspired by Bandish Bandits. The story follows Balu, played by Akshay Lagusani, who belongs to a respected Carnatic music family. His life takes an unexpected turn when he falls in love with Pallavi, played by Sushmita Shetty, a pop singer searching for her own musical identity.


Their relationship brings buried family secrets and old rivalries into the open. The film explores the clash between traditional music and modern ambitions as Balu finds himself caught between continuing his family legacy and following his own dreams. Jagamae Sangeetham premieres on Prime Video on September 4, 2026, and will be available in Telugu with English subtitles and Tamil dubs in India and more than 240 countries and territories.

Mayday on Apple TV+

If action and comedy are more your thing, Mayday brings together Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh for a Cold War-era adventure. Set in 1987, the film follows U.S. Navy pilot Troy “Assassin” Kelly, played by Reynolds, after a surveillance mission goes wrong and he is forced to eject behind enemy lines.

Troy ends up in the Russian wilderness, where he is rescued by Nikolai Ustinov, a former KGB agent played by Branagh. Nikolai's fascination with American pop culture gives the story an unusual comic element, but his decision to help Troy escape Soviet forces puts both men in danger. Mayday starts streaming on Apple TV+ on September 4, 2026.

Unmadham on SonyLIV

Malayalam cinema brings a psychological thriller to OTT with Unmadham, starring Kunchacko Boban. The actor plays Shelly, a police officer who leaves the force to pursue his interest in screenwriting. However, his search for inspiration eventually takes him back to an unresolved case from his past.

Shelly reopens an unsolved cold case, hoping that the investigation will give him material for his writing. Instead, he begins experiencing disturbing hallucinations and strange incidents. As the mystery deepens, the line between reality, fiction and the supernatural starts becoming increasingly unclear. Unmadham premieres on SonyLIV on September 4, 2026.

Dhamaal 4 on Netflix

Comedy fans have another reason to tune into Netflix this Friday as the Dhamaal gang returns with Dhamaal 4. The film brings back Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi, Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh as Adi, Manav, Guddu and Lallan.

This time, the characters find themselves chasing a hidden fortune after discovering a map that has been divided into different pieces. The treasure hunt takes them and their families to a mysterious island, where things quickly spiral into confusion. Expect plenty of misunderstandings, comic mishaps and chaotic situations as the characters try to get their hands on the fortune. Dhamaal 4 premieres on Netflix on September 4, 2026.

The Court on JioHotstar

The Court brings a legal drama to the streaming lineup. The Tamil film revolves around Yazhini, played by R. Yogalakshmi, a young lawyer who lives with a speech impairment but refuses to let it come in the way of her ambitions.

Her determination is put to the test when she finds herself involved in a major courtroom battle against her own experienced father. The clash turns personal as Yazhini has to rely on her legal knowledge, confidence and determination to establish herself. The Court starts streaming on JioHotstar on September 4, 2026.

Earle Meets World on Netflix

For viewers who prefer unscripted entertainment, Earle Meets World follows social media personality Alix Earle as she navigates her rapidly changing life. The reality series also features her mixed family, including her sister Ashtin and stepmother Ashley.

The show moves between Miami and New York as Alix balances her personal relationships, business ventures and fast-paced lifestyle. Unlike weekly releases, the series drops its complete first season at once. All eight 45-minute episodes of Earle Meets World will be available to stream on Netflix from September 4, 2026.
