French artist Martial Robin debuts with 'Animal Factory' in India

BENGALURU: After showcasing his work across Europe and America, French artist Martial Robin makes his India debut in Bengaluru, with his exhibition 'Animal Factory'. Robin, who has trained under reputed artist Francoise Petard, will be presenting artworks inspired by animals, one of his specializations.

"To me, the animal world offers an endless richness of expressions, personalities, societies, colours, textures and shapes," Robin told ET. "Then with a few strong brush strokes, wet paint loosely applied, or a few flicks of the pencil, the subject is brought to life."


The exhibition showcases 60-odd artworks, all mix techniques on canvas. Animals ranging from dogs, cows and hens to elephants, horses and tigers find representation. "A good portrait has to show more than just the aesthetic part of the subject. My paintings are not necessarily very detailed. I always try to leave the spectator some room for his own interpretation and imagination," said the artist, whose works are present in 70 countries across 5 continents, including galleries in France, Australia, Finland, USA and Spain.


On his India debut, Robin said that he is excited to bring his artwork specifically to India's Silicon Valley. "India poses a huge attraction among most Europeans because of her strong historical and artistic culture. I look forward to meeting Indian art lovers and getting their views on their collection.

Animal Factory will be on view at Sublime Galleria, UB City, till January 2, 2016.
