Freedom at Midnight is a 2024 Hindi-language historical drama web series streaming on SonyLIV. It is adapted from the acclaimed book Freedom at Midnight by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins, and the series is created and directed by Nikkhil Advani. Freedom At Midnight on OTT

On Friday, SonyLIV officially confirmed that Freedom at Midnight season 2 will begin streaming on January 9. The upcoming season is expected to shift its focus to the difficult months that followed independence, a period marked by uncertainty, high-stakes political decisions, and the emotional toll of a nation in transition.

The series features Siddhant Gupta as Jawaharlal Nehru, Chirag Vohra as Mahatma Gandhi, and Rajendra Chawla as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Their portrayals of India’s key leaders formed the emotional and political backbone of the first season. The ensemble cast also includes Arif Zakaria, Ira Dubey, Rajesh Kumar, Luke McGibney, Andrew Cullum, Richard Teverson, Alistair Finlay, and Cordelia Bugeja.

According to the makers, the new season will continue to balance major political developments with deeply personal stories, showing how decisions made at the highest levels affected millions of lives on the ground.
