Former Baroda royal, Pratapsinh Gaekwad's specialised veterinary outfit in Mumbai

Keep the professional and personal separate is a common advice. But sometimes it’s inevitable for the two to merge and, with good reason. Former Baroda royal, Pratapsinh Gaekwad would know. His latest project is a specialised veterinary outfit in Mumbai. And it comes from a very personal space.

"I just love animals and I have had pets for the longest time. Whenever they’ve been ill, I’ve felt completely helpless. And just the level of care that is available in the market today is not up to the standard," Pratap said, explaining why he picked the space. At the clinic’s opening, perhaps the guest of honour was his eight-year old Great Dane, Chevvy. Sharing the story behind the name, he said, "He was already called that when I got him and since I like the car (Chevrolet, often known as Chevvy), I left it at that." The evening saw society step out and one guest commented that the expat community showed up in good numbers, grateful for a facility that promises to look after their four-legged family members well.
