The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge both cheat when asked to put their baking skills to the test.
It’s that time of year when people are busy getting into the joy of the season. The British royal family too. But there’s comes with a little sprinkling of competitiveness. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were invited to be part of a Christmas special baking show and in their bid to impress master-baker and host Mary Berry, they the resorted to a little good old fashioned holiday fudging.
The two were supposed to make a roulade, but Prince William enlisted the help of former Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain to help him roll up a roulade while Mary was not looking. Just to make sure her husband didn’t win the bake off, Kate was then caught sprinkling icing on her own cake after their set time was up.
Before the two put on their oven mitts, William was the picture of confidence and claimed he had 'made hundreds of roulades, loads', adding: I'm going to write a book about roulades and it'll be a bestseller.' He later admitted it was his first time making the dish.

So, which royal roulade was better? Mary told the pair: 'It's a draw. I don't want to quarrel with either of you. Well done for being so sporting – I know you're both very competitive.'
What is a roulade? This is a dish cooked or served in the form of a roll, typically made from sponge, spread with a soft filling and rolled up into a spiral. It’s tricky to make and can easily fall apart. During Christmas people usually add cream, berries and chocolate.
