Footie foul: When an event featuring soccer star Ronaldinho went kaput

A promotional event featuring Brazilian football star Ronaldinho in Mumbai last Friday was a tragi-comic experience. Ronaldinho came over an hour late, due to his hectic travel schedule. Till then the audience had to put up with a witless promotional video on loop. And when the player finally did arrive, he mumbled a few clichés and left. Meanwhile, the event promoters took over the mic. Gatecrashers in the audience further marred the interaction. Ronaldinho’s delay could be excused. His travel itinerary was indeed busy. But once there, he should have stayed longer than he did. Some of the attendees were heard saying that the organisers showed a lack of expertise and disrespect for the guests’ time.
