Football aside, Messi attracts attention for his fashion-sense

Argentine footballer Lionel Messi won the prestigious FIFA Ballon d’Or for the fifth time, beating stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. But talent aside, the world’s best player got attention for his toned-down fashion choice, compared to the previous times he’s won.

In 2011, Messi wore a burgundy velvet three piece, a polka-dotted shiny suit in 2012, a shimmery silk deep red one in 2013 and a textured wine-hued tuxedo in 2014. On January 11, he wore a plain black tux, much like his look when he won his fiFrorst Ballon d’Or in 2009. Are his flashy fashion days behind him? We hope not.
