Food With Benefits: Fund-raising dinner to be served by superchefs in Mumbai today

An all star chef cast will bring out their skillets and skills for ‘Food With Benefits’ today for a fund-raising dinner. Now in its fourth season, Food With Benefits will have nine superchefs curate unique culinary experiences under one roof in support of St Jude’s Childcare Centres. Hosted by Chef Alex Sanchez’s Magazine Street Kitchen at Byculla, the chefs will serve dishes inspired by their recent travels.

Expect the world on a plate -- from Gresham Fernandess’ Danishinspired food, Irfan Pabaney’s French cuisine to Kelvin Cheung and Pooja Dhingra’s spin on food from Hong Kong and Japan. A pleasant surprise on the list is Rahul Akerkar, previously of Indigo and Indigo Deli, who has been missing in action from the culinary scene since he left Degustibus in 2015.

The chef will be cooking up Italian fanfare at the exclusive event, open for only 40 people. “They called to ask, and I said yes. I love this new breed of chefs who are supporting each other and sharing their knowledge. It’s the only way forward. For the event, I will be making a duck confit and a parmesan custard,” Akerkar told us.
