A mother or a mother figure teaches many things to her kids in life that help them become a better person and be self-sufficient. She not only looks after them, teaches them basic life skills, but is also their biggest cheerleader who boosts them up with the confidence and courage to go out in the world on their own.
So this Mother’s Day, it’s only right that these amazing women take some time off and step out in the world on their own, and for the teacher to become the student and learn new things that different cities and countries, culture and people have to teach.
But before you take off, here are a few tips to keep in mind when travelling solo as a senior woman.
Start Small This is the same advice you must have given to your kid or the child figure in your life. Yes, start small. Try taking a solo trip somewhere within the country and a place that’s not too on the off skirt areas.
Initially, try taking short trips for three or four nights before jumping onto long travel plans. This way, you will get to learn the things that you definitely need to carry yourself when travelling and the things you can do by. Starting small will also make you understand what kind of traveller you are: the guest house/hostel/hotel.
Do Your Research Before you pack your bags or book your tickets, do the research. Learn how the local commute in that country works, foods that are easily available and foods that are not, their tipping policy and of course, the shutting time of local stores, local bus and train stops.
