It runs Fitbit OS 3.0 so there are a lot of customisation options available from the companion app.

There is no altimeter, so the watch cannot track floors climbed.

Fitbit has been doubling down on its product launches this year. After launching the Charge 3 in January, they have already announced four new fitness wearable products in India. Fitbit Versa Lite is one of those launches and as the name suggests it’s a cheaper variant of the Fitbit Versa smartwatch launched last year.

What we liked about the Versa lite is that it continues with the same design as the Versa. This means you get the same 1.34-inch size colour touchscreen with a metal body. The display is bright and easy to read under direct sunlight as well. It has a resolution of 300 x 300 pixels which means everything is crisp most of the times. Even the viewing angles are excellent, it has deep blacks and the touch response is fantastic.

Another good thing with the Versa Lite is that its available in multiple colour options some of which are not even available on the Versa. Straps are user replaceable and you can use any of the Versa bands. Just like the Versa, Versa Lite is also ideal size for both male and female users. It is comfortable to wear continuously and since its water resistant, you don’t have to worry about taking it off even when you go for a shower or swim. One of the ways of reducing price on the Versa Lite is the removal of hardware buttons – while Versa has three buttons (one on the left, two on the right), Versa Lite only has one button on the left.

Activity tracking is top-notch and so is the sleep and heart rate tracking – this is something the other brands are still trying to match up to and are still lagging behind. Being a Lite edition, Fitbit has removed a few features from the watch. There is no altimeter, so the watch cannot track floors climbed. WiFi has been removed for connectivity and there is no internal storage for music anymore. You also do not get on-screen workouts with the Versa Lite. Majority of these are features that average users won’t mind not being available other than the altimeter in our opinion.

It runs Fitbit OS 3.0 so there are a lot of customization options available from the companion app. All the data synced is visible in an easy to understand graphical format – if you are a Fitbit user, you will feel right at home. We were able to get a battery life between 4-5 days with a single charge which is as expected.

The competition in the premium smartwatch segment has been growing steadily. This is one of the reasons in our opinion that has led Fitbit to launch this Lite Edition of its Versa smartwatch. While it skips on a few features from its big brother, it still proves to be one of the best options for people who are not hardcore fitness enthusiasts but still want a fitness focused smartwatch. Keep in mind that you can get the Fitbit Versa for just Rs 3,000 more (RS 18,999). You can also consider the Honor Magic Watch with an amoled full circle display for Rs 14,999.

Fitso gives you recommendations on the basis of your BMI (which it calculates according to the height and weight your input). If you want to lose weight, it will give you the option to track your daily calories intake with a diet journal as well as ask you to burn calories with physical activity. You need to set a target weight and choose whether you want to do only a diet or diet & exercise. We like the clean app interface. You can also opt for a coach service which starts at just Rs 149/week.

As the name suggests, this free app helps you calculate your calorie intake basis what you eat and drink. We liked that it has an option of adding how much weight you want to gain/lose per week (and it accordingly informs how many calories you should consume each day). As long as you input your food and drink correctly, the app shows you a nutrient breakdown, making it easy to see how much protein, fat and sugar you have consumed. You can view your progress in a graphic form, sync data with third party devices and apps as well as have the app remind you to eat food on time.

A smart weighing scale helps you keep a track of various parameters. Apart from your weight, a smart scale can typically measure BMI, muscle mass, bone mass, body fat, basal metabolism and visceral fat. All the data is synced with a companion app for easy tracking. Some apps even let you create individual profiles — so that all the people using it can track weight loss progress individually. Some of the better options we reviewed include the Mi Body Composition Scale (Rs 1,999) and the Lenovo HS10 Smart Scale (Rs 2,799).

A dedicated fitness band is great for tracking your daily activity (as opposed to having an app on your phone). You can buy one starting as low as Rs 1,200 going up to Rs 20,000 or more. We recommend getting a fitness band that offers a heart rate tracker, good battery life and water resistance. We always recommend Fitbit if you can spend more. They have some of the best fitness bands like the Alta HR and upcoming Charge 3. However, their products are usually priced Rs 10k onwards. If you want to spend less, check out the following options.
