LUCKNOW: Leading health wearable tracker company Fitbit has made an aggressive bid to expand into tier-II and tier-III cities and would open 500 additional outlets in these cities to increase penetration.

"We have a dominant majority market share in the health wearable tracker segment. Our products are already available online in all corners of the country. We do not have exclusive stores but we have presence at 500 outlets right now. We hope to double this number by December and be available at 1,000 outlets. This is our bid to reach closer to our consumers" said Country General Manager, Fitbit, Manisha Sood.

She said that the company started operation in India in August 2015 and since then has made deep inroads in the segment. "Our products have found great response in all segments. While most buyers are in the 25-45 age group, large number of elders or 60+ people also purchase Fitbit as they endeavor to lead a healthy lifestyle" Sood said. She said that Fitbit has recently added two new models Alta, a fitness wristband and Blaze, a smart fitness watch, for the health conscious.
