First wave of Nexus products to hit India

In an attempt to penetrate the space occupied by Apple, Google has announced three devices — Nexus 9, Nexus 6 and Nexus Player. The Nexus 6 is poised to be a pure Android alternative for the iPhone 6 Plus, whereas the Nexus 9 will offer largescreen tablet buyers a choice beyond the iPad. The Nexus Player is battling it out with Apple TV for the top-spot. All three devices are said to natively run the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Here’s what to expect:

Nexus 9

The Google Nexus 9 is built by HTC with a premium finish. The 8.9-inch device is believed to come with HTC trademark features like BoomSound and have a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 2.3 GHz processor. It also comes with an optional magnetic keypad that “helps you get stuff done at home, at the office and on the go”. A 6700 mAh battery will power the device and it will come loaded with an 8MP rear camera. Potential buyers can choose between 16GB and 32GB options, priced at $399 (Rs 24,500) and $479 (Rs 29,350), respectively.

Nexus 6

The Nexus 6 has been built by Motorola, and looks much like a larger version of the Moto X. The phone will be powered by the new Snapdragon 805 quad-core 2 .7GHz processor with the Adreno 420 GPU and will have a 6-inch quad HD display. It also has a 13MP camera, a turbo charging facility and will be available in Cloud White and Midnight Blue in 32GB and 64GB versions. While pricing and availability details aren’t released just as yet, India is said to be in the first wave.

Nexus Player

The Nexus Player is a slick entertainment console that is Google Cast ready and is able to beam content from apps on any platform or OS to your TV. Users can also sync content across devices to allow continued watching. It also comes with a voicecontrolled remote and an optional Gamepad.
