First look: Deepika Padukone transforms into a 'dhobi' for Majid Majidi's next

After seeing Deepika Padukone in the role of a warrior princess in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and a sexy huntress in ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’, this avatar of the actress is sure to shock you. The actress, who recently made heads turn at the MTV EMAs, was spotted at Mumbai’s famous Dhobi Ghat, in a de-glam avatar.

Deepika, who is expected to shoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’, is reportedly collaborating with Iranian director Majid Majidi for his ambitious project. A string of pictures that have surfaced online show Deepika taking tips from the famous director as she underwent a look test. Presumably playing the role of a dhobi, Deepika is seen sporting an unkempt look with dishevelled hair. The film that will be shot in Mumbai, Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kashmir, will be an Indian story at heart and will reportedly be a new take on relationships and emotional quotients in true Majidi style.

For those finding these pictures a little unsettling, it’ll only be a matter of time before we see her decked up in royal attire for ‘Padmavati’ opposite Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
