AHMEDABAD: More than ten thousand families took part in what was touted as India's first 'family marathon' here today.

Organisers of the 3-km race, Sab TV, said they had applied for certificate from Limca Book of Records as it was the first such event in the country.

Gujarat finance minister Saurabh Patel flagged off the marathon in the presence of TV stars Sudeepa Singh, Sharmili Raj and Shreedhar Watsar along with the fitness expert Sapna Vyas Patel.

Many participants had dressed up in fancy costumes such a fairy godmother, sorceress, etc. A two years old was dressed as `a tree'.
