Finally, an IIT degree for Anand Mahindra
At the 53rd convocation at IIT's Mumbai campus on Saturday, Anand Mahindra, CMD, Mahindra Group, received an honorary doctorate from the institute. The irony of the situation wasn't lost on him. He was after all preparing to get into the engineering school at one point.

When Mahindra graduated from high school more than four decades ago, he "scored well in sciences". As was the tradition then, he was packed off to Aggarwal's IIT coaching classes. But a few months later, he realised that he didn't want to pursue engineering, finally quitting the classes.

He, then, moved to JJ College of Architecture. But the college went on strike for nine months. Eventually, he ended up in a liberal arts college in the US, majoring in filmmaking.

Sharing this story on Instagram, Mahindra wrote, "My parents, who have since passed on, were wonderfully tolerant of my alternative thinking. But this morning, I was convinced that if they were looking down at me from above, they must have been highly amused that I finally did end up getting an IIT degree!".
