Film-maker Aanand L Rai's mother passes away, Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi & others attend last rites

Film-maker Aanand L Rai lost his mother on Wednesday. Her last rites were attended by actors such as Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, producer Bhushan Kumar and more in the evening in Mumbai. Film-maker Hansal Mehta paid condolences to the 50-year-old director's mother on Twitter.

"Dearest friend @aanandlrai Deepest condolences to you, Raviji and the entire family on the loss of your mother. Sending prayers for strength and a big hug," Mehta wrote on the microblogging site.



Earlier on Wednesday, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar had announced the news of his mother's demise. On Twitter, Kumar said that his mother Aruna Bhatia, who was his "core", was no more. "I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence," he wrote on Twitter, thanking his fans for all the prayers.

"I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti," Akshay wrote.


On the work front, Akshay and Aanand have collaborated on the upcoming films 'Raksha Bandhan' and 'Atrangi Re'.
