Fifty and fabulous: Shalini Piramal's surprise birthday party

Piramal pulled a surprise out of his bag. Unknown to wife Shalini, he planned a hush celebration to usher in her 50th birthday. Cards inscribed with the words 'Fifty & Fabulous' were sent out to family and friends, all of whom assembled at his Worli residence.

To the strains of live music and a multi-cuisine spread, Shalini brought in her big day in the company of the Wockhardt Khorakiwalas, the Talatis, Hemendra Kothari and kin such as Ajay and Swati Piramal. The invite had a visual of a glass of bubbly. Perhaps it was Piramal's own toast to his effervescent wife.
