Ferrari all set to re-enter India
Ferrari is back for its second innings in the country. After a disturbing experience with its previous dealer in India, Shreyans Group, the Italian sports car manufacturer is now set to roll out with industry veteran Navnit Motors in Mumbai and Yadur Kapur in Delhi.

Industry sources say that Ferrari was looking forward to a new dealership since the past four months and was in constant talks with both players in India. "Given their past experience, they were pretty nervous this time," sources say.

Both players need to attend to the existing Ferrari customers, who were left orphaned after the sports car manufacturer fell out with Shreyans Group. "Manpower has already been hired and the concentration is now on setting up the service workshop first," says the source.

Ferrari first opened its doors in India in 2011 with Shreyans Group as its sole distributor, with one showroom in Delhi, followed by another in Mumbai. However, the company broke off ties with the dealer early 2014, following complaints from its customers about inefficient service.

Ferrari buyers, including prominent industrialists and affluent business families, were left disgruntled by the Ashish Chordia-promoted Shreyans Group's after-sales services. Buyers complained about paying over 60 per cent cost of their Ferraris and still not receiving their cars.

Mumbai-based industrialist Gautam Singhania even took it to Twitter to vent his anger against Chordia and Ferrari. The Italian car manufacturer, in an official comment, told ETPanache about breaking ties with Shreyans Group and dealing with their customers directly.

A spokesperson from Navnit Motors, which are also exclusive dealers for BMW, Rolls Royce and Land Rover in Mumbai, refused to confirm the arrangement at this point, saying the deal was not closed yet.

However, confirming the association with Ferrari, Yadur Kapur, who has the exclusive dealership for BMW, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini and Aston Martin in Delhi, says, "We are extremely excited to represent the Ferrari brand and look forward to showcasing the brand to discerning Indian car connoisseurs."

While Ferrari owners and potential buyers can heave a sigh of relief, our sources say Maserati owners will have to wait for a while now.
