Farhan Akhtar may have teased 'Don 3', Shah Rukh Khan fans are quite upset

After weeks of speculations, it appears renowned film-maker and actor Farhan Akhtar may have teased 'Don 3', after all.

Taking to social media, the actor-director posted a 37-second-long video of a motion poster on Tuesday with the number '3' appearing in 3D with words, "A new era begins," written at the bottom. This video fueled the potential third instalment of the highly-acclaimed 'Don' franchise.

This cryptic post left many fans wondering if the long-awaited 'Don 3' is finally here. Earlier, reports said that Akhtar was working on the script of the movie. The plot details and the cast have been kept under the wraps.


In May, social media was abuzz after reports claimed that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan would not be reprising his role in 'Don 3'. So, the makers at Excel Entertainment picked Bollywood heartthrob Ranveer Singh to step into SRK's shoes and play the titular character in 'Don 3'. The reports caused quite a stir among fans.

While King Khan has reportedly given a thumbs-up to Excel's choice for the new 'Don', the fans have not yet been able to accept the change.

The comments section of Akhatr's post on Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) are flooded with messages from upset SRK fans. In fact, a number of fans created a new hashtag to express their feelings - #NoSRKNoDon3. Many fans are confident that the third part won't be successful without their favourite actor.






There were also a few in favour of Singh as the new Don.





The first instalment of 'Don', featuring the Badshah of Bollywood and global icon Priyanka Chopra, hit the screens in 2006. The second part was released in 2011. Both films were directed by Akhtar.

'Don' also starred featured Boman Irani in a key role. The film won the Best Asian Film at the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival. Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan also made a special appearance in 'Don 2'.

Akhtar's directorial was a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 'Don'.
