Farah Khan says genuine natural beauty is rare in Bollywood, names the only exception

Conversations around beauty standards in Bollywood are constant, with actors often judged for their looks as much as their performances. Discussions about skincare routines, cosmetic treatments, filters and age-defying appearances frequently dominate social media and fan circles. Against this, filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has shared her own frank view, saying that genuine natural beauty is rare in the industry and naming only one actor she believes truly fits that description.

Farah’s comments came during one of her popular cooking vlogs, which are known for their relaxed setting and unfiltered conversations. Shot at home with her longtime cook Dilip, these videos often mix humour, food and casual Bollywood talk, regularly going viral for Farah’s straightforward style.

The vlog conversation

During the vlog, Dilip complimented Farah on her glowing skin and asked about the secret behind it. Staying playful, Farah initially credited her appearance to natural beauty and an inner glow. Moments later, while addressing viewers during a brand promotion, she clarified that the glow was actually due to a skincare product that she was endorsing at the time. She added humorously that Dilip could continue believing it was all natural.


As the conversation progressed, Farah shifted focus from herself to the industry at large. She shared her view that true natural beauty is uncommon in Bollywood today, where enhancements and cosmetic procedures are increasingly common.

The one name Farah stands by

Farah went on to state that, in her opinion, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the only actor she considers genuinely naturally beautiful. While she did not name other contemporary stars, her comment made it clear that she believes Aishwarya stands apart from the rest. The remark quickly drew attention online, especially since it came without any reference to widely admired actors like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif or Priyanka Chopra.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has long been associated with timeless beauty. She won the Miss World title in 1994 and went on to become one of Bollywood’s most recognisable faces. Over the years, she has starred in major films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Mohabbatein, Jodhaa Akbar, Dhoom 2 and Ponniyin Selvan.
