Deepika Padukone recently attended the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week and shared a behind-the-scenes video from the event. As she got ready, she reflected on India's history with the Oscars, expressing her thoughts on how the Oscars have robbed India many times despite the several deserving films and talents that have been overlooked by the Academy over the years.

On Instagram, the video opened with a question asking her. “What’s an Oscar win that felt personal for you.” The actress shared that her favourite moment from the 2025 Oscars was Adrien Brody’s win for Best Actor in The Brutalist. While on the topic of the Oscars, she recalled a particularly emotional moment from the 2023 Oscars when RRR won Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. Despite having no direct involvement in the film, she felt a deep sense of pride as an Indian when the award was announced. That year, she had the honour of introducing Naatu Naatu on the Oscars stage with a speech celebrating its cultural significance.

In the same video, she addressed how the Oscars have robbed India “many times” and the video highlighted some of India's most critically acclaimed films that never made it to the Oscars, including All We Imagine As Light by Payal Kapadia, Laapataa Ladies by Kiran Rao, Tumbbad by Rahi Anil Barve, and The Lunchbox by Ritesh Batra. These films, despite receiving international recognition, were not nominated by the Academy. Her caption read, “Adrien Brody take a bow!”
