Fans can now watch John Abraham in triple role, 'Satyameva Jayate 2' comes to Amazon Prime

Mumbai: Actor John Abraham starrer actioner 'Satyameva Jayate 2' has made its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video, the streamer announced on Thursday.


A sequel to the 2018 hit of the same name, the Milap Zaveri directorial released theatrically on November 25. The film featured Abraham in a triple role, fighting corruption in Lucknow. The filmmaker said having Abraham play three characters in the film was an organic decision, which not only made sense on paper but also upped the film's commercial quotient by "three times". Abraham was originally supposed to be starring in a double role.


"But when I was writing the father's character, I realised his was the strongest role. So I told John that I can't take this to any other actor because it is the best role in the film. He immediately agreed. The amount of bashing critics will give me for two Johns, they will also do for three. But maybe the audience will clap and cheer thrice as much," the filmmaker told PTI.

'Satyameva Jayate 2' was produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Emmay Entertainment. It also starred Divya Khosla Kumar.

Though the trade had expected the film to clock big numbers at the box office, "Satyameva Jayate 2" opened to scathing reviews and ended its lifetime gross under Rs 15 cr.

Abraham will be next seen in the sci-fi action thriller 'Attack', scheduled to release in January 2022. The actor too took to Twitter to announce the arrival of the film on the OTT platform.
