Famous actress and her husband got married with wedding rings purchased by his first wife

Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s wedding in 1996 created quite a stir, as she was his second wife, and shortly before the marriage, he had divorced his first wife, Mona Shourie, with whom he had two kids, Arjun and Anshula. In a recent interview, the veteran producer said that he did not keep his relationship with the ‘Chalbaaz’ star a secret from his wife.

Speaking to Chanda Kocchar on her YouTube channel, Boney stated, “My first wife, I told her, I had confessed to her,” he said. Then, painting to his ring, he revealed that both his and Sridevi’s wedding rings were purchased by Mona. He also thanked his late wife for bringing up their kids and preventing them from developing resentment against their father.

“I respected my ex-wife because she never played this game of putting one against the other. Kids felt bad because they couldn’t see their mom suffering, which I understand,” he said.


Mona Shourie lost a long battle with cancer in 2012 and passed away in the presence of her children. Just six years later, Sridevi was found dead in her guest room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. After a thorough investigation, the official verdict was death by accidental drowning.

Today, Boney’s four kids - Arjun, Anshula, Janhvi, and Khushi Kapoor have become closer. Apart from Anshula, all the siblings are active in Bollywood. Janhvi, who was recently seen in the romantic comedy ‘Param Sundari’ opposite Siddharth Malhotra, will next star in another rom-com ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ along with Varun Dhawan. The movie will hit the big screens on October 2.
