Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar often grab attention with their couple pictures and candid family moments on social media. The couple got married on December 25, 2020, after a whirlwind romance that began during the lockdown. Their relationship was not without questions, especially because of their six-year age gap and initial family reservations. However, Gauahar and Zaid stood by their decision and have since built a family together with their two sons, Zehaan and Farwaan. Recently, the couple opened up about their relationship and the challenges they faced before marriage.

How Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar met

Gauahar and Zaid's love story began during the pandemic when they connected through social media. Their first interaction came after Zaid sent Gauahar a message. What started as a casual conversation soon developed into something more serious, although their relationship almost ended before it could properly begin.

During an appearance on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi's YouTube show Double Date, the couple spoke about their early conversations. Gauahar recalled that Zaid initially told her that he was 24 years old. She immediately became uncomfortable with the interaction and asked him to end the conversation.


However, Zaid soon admitted that he had lied about his age because he believed Gauahar was younger. He eventually showed her his official documents, which revealed that he was actually 29. Gauahar was 35 at the time, making the age difference between them six years.

The actress said the discovery changed the situation, although the two eventually continued getting to know each other. Their relationship moved quickly, with Zaid proposing marriage within about a month.

Family had concerns about their age gap

While Gauahar and Zaid were certain about their relationship, their families were initially not completely comfortable with the idea of them getting married. The six-year age gap became one of the concerns raised by their families.

Gauahar recalled, "He proposed marriage to me within one month, and the families opposed the idea. They even raised questions regarding the age gap. We were very clear that if anyone has any issues in coming to the wedding, they can skip it. But, the nikah was perfect."

For the unversed, the couple tied the knot on December 25, 2020, in a grand nikah ceremony. Their wedding became one of the much-discussed celebrity weddings of that period, with pictures and videos from the celebrations widely shared online.

Zaid became emotional during Gauahar's wedding entry

The wedding also had an emotional moment that Gauahar remembers fondly. She said she did not expect Zaid to become so emotional during her bridal entry, but he broke down when he saw her.

Zaid later explained that he found it difficult to control his emotions at that moment. He recalled being overwhelmed after seeing Gauahar walk towards him and said he continued crying for several minutes.

Since their wedding, Gauahar and Zaid have continued to share glimpses of their relationship and family life. Their social media posts often feature celebrations, vacations, candid moments and pictures with their children.

The couple welcomed their first son, Zehaan, on May 10, 2023. They later became parents to their second son, Farwaan, who was born on September 1, 2025.

Gauahar, who won Bigg Boss 7, has continued working as an actress and television personality, while Zaid has made a name for himself as a dancer and content creator.
