Family matters: Bhavin Turakhia credits his father, humble beginnings for success

Bhavin Turakhia is a billionaire entrepreneur today, but his mantra for success is still the same as when he started out: A quote from his father. “The one piece of advice he used to keep repeating all the time in our childhood was, ‘You can achieve anything you set your mind to’,” Turakhia recalled, while talking to the BBC recently.

Talking about his humble beginnings, he added, “Everything I am today is in many ways thanks to my father. He used to work from nine to nine everyday just to make ends meet. But this is what he used to say. Sometimes we’d be like, ‘Dad, we know’. But the number of times it was repeated, you really internalise it.”

And how exactly did this help him? “I believe entrepreneurship requires a healthy dose of delusion,” Turakhia added. “Each time I start with a completely new idea in a different space and industry I know nothing about, I always believe, internally, that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.”
