Yet another Indian to join the club of Eisenhower Fellows is Shaurya Doval, head of the think tank, India Foundation. Also, son of NSA Ajit Doval. During his six-week fellowship, that concluded May-end, Shaurya interacted with several academicians and think tanks, learning much about economic and strategic decision making.

As one who attests to the transformative powers of technology, he also spent time on the west coast, at the offices of Google and Facebook. It was a first-hand experience at Facebook that cemented his belief in technology.

When he landed at Facebook, the Nepal earthquakes had wreaked havoc. The social network had reacted quickly and built a safety check option, allowing those affected to mark themselves safe, a much-needed assurance for loved ones. Shaurya says this opportunity to witness the impact of a simple solution proved to him the power of technology. In a life and death situation, Facebook delivered.
