“Luxury garments are like works of art,” couturier Sandeep Khosla tells ETPanache. “They are fragile and deserve to be maintained beautifully. [Always] Store your couture with care. Keep your cupboards and drawers well-sealed and cleaned so dust doesn’t gather in them. Follow care instructions to a ‘t’ and cover every piece, to create a double-layer of protection.”

Chawla is equally meticulous when it comes to his shoes. He employs a series of homemade hacks like using stale bread to clean suede, tea bags for bad odours and oat flour for grease stains.
Safety first Luxury menswear designer Raghavendra Rathore believes that consumers need to consider the new technology in the market to protect their luxury items.
“The most efficient and convenient way to keep ‘safety first’ during this pandemic is to invest in a high-intensity ultraviolet light box [20 to 30 litre size]. A two-minute exposure to this special spectrum of light annihilates 99 per cent of viruses or bacterial contamination of products coming into one’s house,” says Rathore.

Designer Raghavendra Rathore believes that consumers need to consider the new technology in the market to protect their luxury items. “We are encouraging all our stores to look into providing this safety barrier, which is more practical than any spray or fogging of luxury products.”
