Exclusive: New Oppo F7 leaked, smartphone to have iPhone X-style notched display
At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, Oppo was one of the company’s missing in action. It seems that they skipped MWC to launch a new flagship at a standalone event. We got our hands on a never-before-seen render of this upcoming device.

Here’s what we know so far:

The upcoming phone will be called the Oppo F7. It’s a successor to the Oppo F5, launched last year. The most obvious feature you can see is the iPhone X-style notched display. We’re fairly certain of our source and they have confirmed that the phone will have a 6.2-inch screen with FHD+ resolution. Thanks to the ultra-slim bezels, it has a screen-to- body-ratio of 89.09%. Exact screen resolution is not available, but it should be around 2246 x 1080 pixels.

Here's a closer look:

Another confirmed feature from the leaked image is that the Oppo F7 will feature a 25MP front camera. We expect it to improve on the Artificial Intelligence features from the Oppo F5 to deliver superior selfies. The source also confirmed that the Oppo F7 will feature improved, real-time HDR, an enhanced beauty mode and AR stickers when using the front camera. From the image, it’s also clear that it will have a 3.5mm audio jack and the vibrant red colour will be one of the available options.

We expect it to be powered by an octa core Mediatek processor, 4/6GB RAM and 64GB storage (expandable). The phone is likely to launch in India between 28 to 30 March.

Six Last-Gen Smartphones Still Worth Buying

It’s become the norm for smartphone makers to launch one or two flagship devices every year. What this means is that you can score some great deals on outgoing flagships — all the more relevant if you think that new phones often have absurd prices. What’s more, these older flagships will still handily outperform most new mid-range devices.

Apple launched not just the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus but also the iPhone X this year. However, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus launched last year are still capable devices compared to the iPhone 8/8 Plus. You don’t have to worry about change in design as the 7 and 8 look identical. Both iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are capable of running the latest iOS version with almost all its bells and whistles. Plus, the cameras on the iPhone 7 (12MP with OIS) and 7 Plus (dual 12MP with OIS) continue to be amongst the best available on a smartphone.

LG V30+ replaced the LG V20 just a few weeks ago but we find the LG V20 to be one of the best devices from LG till date. Not only does the LG V20 offer a removable metal back (and removable battery), it has a dual screen setup (5.7-inch QHD primary and a 2.1-inch secondary screen). You get a 5MP, 120-degree wide angle front camera and a 16MP + 8MP rear camera setup. Even the rear wideangle camera offers a 135 degree field of view compared to the 120 degrees on LG V30+. Specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, IR remote and a 3,200mAh battery. And thanks to the Hi-Fi quad DAC, the phone is a music lover’s delight.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus were amongst the first to market with almost bezelless designs. But one of the first devices with dual curved displays was the S7 Edge. It did not have an 18:9 aspect ratio but the 5.5-inch QHD curved amoled screen is still in a class of its own. In addition, the S7 Edge has a very similar camera setup to the S8/S8 Plus: 12MP single camera with OIS. Hardware includes an octa core Exynos processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage (expandable) and a 3,600mAh battery. Other features include a 5MP front camera with f1.7 aperture and HDR, a front fingerprint scanner and wireless charging.
