Anand Mahindra recently quipped that he is considered 'low priority' by his own team
Even the apex position at the Mahindra Group does not grant Anand Mahindra immunity from the customer waiting list for the company’s latest SUV. On December 3, the industrialist posted a photograph of the newly launched model on social media and expressed his desire to secure one in black.

Social Media Banter and Mahindra’s Humorous Reply

A user on X jokingly remarked that the businessman could have any vehicle he wanted since he owned the company, while ordinary buyers had to wait their turn. In response, the business leader—famous for his dry wit—lamented that his own colleagues never prioritise his requests. He added that his team assumes he will always be patient, which is why they push him to the back of the line.

Launch of Mahindra’s New Electric SUV

Just a month earlier, the company introduced the XEV 9S, an all-electric, three-row sport utility vehicle that starts at Rs 19.95 lakh. Mahindra described the launch as a major stride in its transition toward a fully electric future. Prospective buyers can specify their choices beginning December 14. Test drives start on January 5, bookings open on January 14, and the first batch of vehicles will be handed over on January 23.

India’s First Electric-Origin 7-Seater on the INGLO Platform

The brand highlights the XEV 9S as the country’s pioneering seven-seat electric-native SUV developed on the INGLO architecture. The model is crafted to accommodate growing families, long-distance travellers and daily commuters seeking an easy, peaceful, and spacious ride. According to Mahindra, the vehicle aims to give passengers more room—both physically and mentally—allowing them to travel comfortably and enjoy time with their loved ones, supported by a calm and refined driving experience.

High-Tech Systems and Safety Features

Mahindra’s announcement explains that the SUV incorporates MAIA, the company’s proprietary automotive intelligence technology, which powers a range of smart capabilities. According to a report by ANI, the vehicle is equipped with seven airbags, L2+ driver-assistance functions, a driver-alert system and a complete 360-degree camera setup. It runs on an advanced LFP battery pack that promises around 500 km of practical range and comes with a lifetime warranty. The powertrain generates 210 kW and 380 Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just seven seconds.
