The world is missing out on several, amazing Indian things.
Top heads on the desi goods that they would love to see go global:

Abhishek Ganguly, MD, Puma
Cricket

Abhishek Ganguly
Abhishek Ganguly wants the world to know more about cricket.

“It would be nice if cricket was more popular globally. I wish the sport was played in a few more countries, especially now since it’s become very entertaining. The short three-hour games are great. The criticism I used to hear from Europeans was that you guys play for five days and then at the end of it, you still don’t have a result — that was a dig they used to take at us (laughs). So, cricket is something I wish would spread further globally than it is today.”

Deepali Naair feels that the Indian hospitality brands have got it right.

“Our Atithi Devo Bhava [guest is God] ethos in hospitality. You can equate that to customer experience that brands world over would want to create. I would like people to appreciate that Indians have that ethos. If you look at some of the Indian hospitality brands, they’ve got it right. The way we look after our guests, when they walk into the hotels, does not happen as easily anywhere in the world.”

Gaurav Gupta, fashion designer
Organic silk

Gaurav Gupta
Gaurav Gupta said that organic silk uses less water.

“It’s huge and there are people who are already making it — it is natural, non-violent and ethically produced. With organic silk, the caterpillars don’t die and are allowed to develop into butterflies. Also, an added benefit is that organic silk uses less water. Locally, it’s possible to do this in India and that’s one thing I would like to see go global.”
