ET recommendations: Faily Brakes, a game for iOS

You are driving along peacefully but your car’s brakes fail, sending you rolling down the side of a hill with little control.

Frightening in real life but amusing in a game — that’s what Faily Brakes is all about. You play as Phil and once you start rolling down the hill, you have to steer to avoid the obstacles (trees, boulders, trains), while hitting the ramps and collecting coins (credits) along the way.

You can then use those credits to purchase additional cars. You can also earn extra credits by choosing to watch in-game ad videos — the videos are usually 15-20 seconds long and net you about 20 coins each time.

The game has nice cartoon-style graphics, five different environments in which to play, different costumes, cars and power-ups (like a missile launcher that clears obstacles for you).

The developers have made sure that there are many different ways to spend real money in the game. Buy just one car and the ads will be disabled forever. Otherwise, you will keep getting full-screen ads. It is a fun take on the endless running type of games.
