A post on how an employee avoided overtime work has gone viral
A post on how an employee deftly avoided the manager’s request of doing overtime (without pay) has been going viral on X. Taking to the microblogging platform, career coach Simon Ingari shared an anecdote about an employee who pretended not to hear when his boss asked him to work till 7:00 pm.

“Boss : Can you work until 7.00pm ?
Employee : Sorry?
Boss : Can you work until 7.00pm ?

Employee : I'm sorry I can't hear you. I think there might be something wrong with this spot. you stand right there…” wrote Ingari.

The pair switched their standing positions. The employee now asked their boss to increase their salary. Now, ironically, it was the boss’s turn to be deaf. Both decide the drop the subject.

“Employee : Can you pay me more?
Boss : Sorry ?
