Not only snacks, she had something for every emergency. She had medicine for headaches, granola bars for people who somehow missed a meal etc. Due to her kindness and generosity, she was called the “office mum.”
One day she stopped restocking her drawer.
“By Thursday people were hovering around her desk asking, “Wait, you don’t have anything?” She laughed and said, “No, I got tired of restocking it.” The weird part was how disappointed everyone looked…” wrote the X user.
They explained what unnerved them was so everybody was so accustomed of her taking her of them without complaint and never acknowledged the efforts.
“After that, she kept snacks only for herself. And honestly? Good for her…” they wrote.
The post went viral, amassing over 300K views and 10K likes.
One comment read: “And nobody will care to support that her ministry of caring for others. This is what happens when we normalize people's effort like a routine and we will fall to appreciate it. We will understand all of a sudden how it has been saving a lot of people if it is no more.”
Another X user remarked: “I had a coworker like that. and any time i used something from her stash, i made a point to slide her a few bucks on payday. and she always tried to refuse, and i said, its towards your stash, that helps all of us, im glad to try to help. i doubt anyone else ever did, thats probably why she was bewildered when i insisted. but its only right imho…”
“Takers never get tired of taking. They will drain you to the very last penny, and then they will laugh at you. Be generous, but don't overdo it…” warned another user.
