Employee visits bathroom twice and gets shocked at boss’s reaction: ‘He had exact timestamps…’

An angry Reddit user recently revealed how they got written up for excessive personal time - all because they had two bathroom breaks - all under five minutes. Taking to the subreddit Anti Work, they vented how at their warehouse, they are on their feet the entire time.

“Both times I was back within five minutes, I know because I was watching the clock myself trying to get back fast..” they vented.

However, they still were rebuked by their manager.


“My manager, who I've had maybe four real conversations with in 14 months, called me to the back office at the end of my shift and slid a printed sheet across the table showing two "unscheduled facility departures" with exact timestamps down to the second, told me this was going in my file, and asked me to sign it. The form had a line at the bottom that said "employee acknowledges that unscheduled breaks affect team productivity and company targets…” they revealed.

They concluded that they signed the paper because they needed the job. But they couldn’t help but think that someone sitting near a computer, generated the report, printed it and waited till the end of their shift to hand it to them. The entire process (documenting the time spent in the bathroom) was far more than the time they actually spent in the toilet.

Responding to the post, one Reddit user advised them to email the HR and ask the boss on the timing of bathroom breaks. “Act like you’re just verifying to make sure you don’t break any rules. Frame it as “what is a reasonable time to spend using the restroom?” as you’ve been penalized for 5 minutes…”

Another revealed how their manager told them not to take a bathroom break longer than two minutes while once he spent longer than ten minutes in the bathroom.
