Elon Musk wants to save the world from 'population collapse', hopes his 8th child is a girl

In early January, Cameron Diaz took to Instagram to reveal that she'd welcomed her first child - a daughter named Raddix Chloe Wildflower - with husband Benji Madden. People magazine reported that using Wildflower is Diaz’s way of thanking her ‘Charlie’s Angels’ co-star Drew Barrymore whose autobiography is titled ‘Wildflower’. The two actresses have been thick since they acted together.

The couple, while posting on Instagram, had refused to post any baby pictures, as a “mark of respect to the little one’s privacy”.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom turned parents in August as they welcomed baby daughter Daisy Dove. The 36-year-old Perry, who was earlier briefly married to Russell Brand, became a mom for the first time. The singer and ‘American Idol’ judge and her actor husband, citing privacy concerns, have not posted any baby pictures online of the new member.

In October, daddy dearest gave a peek into his life with Daisy during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres. In the interview, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star revealed how he had been scoring ‘daddy points’ after helping to get Daisy to sleep. Bloom has a nine-year-old son, Flynn, from an earlier marriage with Miranda Kerr.

Two months into the lockdown, Elon Musk, again, made news. This time for different reasons. On May 6, the 49-year-old Space X CEO announced on Twitter that he and his partner, Canadian singer Grimes, had become parents to a baby boy. After the couple confirmed that they had decided to name the kid X Æ A-12, it became a Twitter trend.


Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, then explained to fans and followers that Æ, a ligature of a and e known as ash, appeared in Latin and Old English but has mostly fallen out of use. However, in some languages such as Danish, Norwegian and Icelandic, Æ is classed as a letter. The singer has used Æ before, naming a song on her latest album 4ÆM. The A-12 is a Lockheed plane built for the CIA, possibly hinting at Musk’s love for gadgets in the sky.

In September, the world came to know about Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara’s baby boy, River. Two months later, in an op-ed for People, the couple talk about raising their son for the first time. The couple, who first met during the filming of ‘Her’ in 2012, named the child River, after Phoenix’s younger brother who passed away at the age of 23.

Earlier this year, Mara, who never made her pregnancy official, stepped out with a visible bump. In July 2019, she was spotted sporting a dazzling jewel on her ring finger, fuelling engagement rumours. Since then, the couple have been seen together at the Golden Globes and Oscars red carpet.

In September, Ed Sheeran took to Instagram to announce the birth of his first baby with wife Cherry Seaborn. The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ while posting a photo of a pair of blue baby socks placed on a colourful blanket, introduced the world to his daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

The intensely private couple, who have known each other since their schooldays, were married in January 2019.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas became parents to a baby girl named Willa in July. Willa is seemingly a tribute to Turner’s time on ‘Game of Thrones’ where two characters appeared throughout the series with the moniker. Earlier this month, the couple were spotted out on a walk in Los Angeles with their li’l one.

Turner and Jonas are the second couple to welcome kids into the Jonas Brothers family. The eldest, Kevin Jonas, and his wife, Danielle Jonas, have two daughters. Younger brother Nick Jonas and his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas aren't parents yet.

How often do you have a country’s prime minister announce the arrival of a baby? Well, that rare event happens if the man-turned-daddy happens to be the fastest man in history - Usain Bolt. On May 19, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the arrival of Bolt Jr through a tweet. The track and field great became a father for the first time after his partner Kasi Bennett gave birth to a baby girl.

An 11-time world champion, Bolt is the only man to win three 100m Olympic titles. He also won 23 major gold medals during a glorious career.

In August Lea Michele and husband Zandy Reich became new parents. The former ‘Glee’ star welcomed her first child - a baby boy - with Reich who is president of the AYR clothing company. Earlier in May, Michele announced on Instagram that she was expecting, posting a photo of herself cradling her baby bump with a caption "so grateful."

In the run-up to her delivery, Michele kept teasing her son's arrival in a series of photos on Instagram.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds became parents in end-April in the middle of the pandemic. The couple named their son Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, in a tribute to their grandfathers and the doctors who treated the British PM for coronavirus. The 32-year-old Symonds posted a picture of her holding the newborn on Instagram, writing that her “heart is full”. They became the first unmarried couple to officially live together in Downing Street when they moved in last summer, after the 56-year-old Johnson won the Conservative party leadership contest. Johnson Jr is the third baby born to a serving PM in recent history of the country.
