Elon Musk may have contracted Covid-19 infection. Asks how many gene changes before the end of a pandemic?

American billionaire, Elon Musk, who is widely known for his tweets on global affairs is back in the news. This time the 50-year-old has indicated that he may have been re-infected with Covid-19. The tech boss said that he had no visible symptoms.

“I supposedly have it again (sigh), but almost no symptoms,” the richest man in the world said in his tweet. Musk also said that the Covid-19 virus was the virus of Theseus lamenting the number of gene mutations that are prolonging the pandemic.

“Covid-19 is the virus of Theseus. How many gene changes before it’s not Covid-19 anymore? I supposedly have it again (sigh), but almost no symptoms,” read Musk’s tweet.

The ‘Ship of Theseus’ is a thought experiment in philosophy that asks if something remains the same if its components are changed entirely. The Covid-19 virus has evolved in the last years with several subsequent variants.

So far, in the US over 9.76 lakh people have succumbed to the pandemic according to John Hopkins University. Although now the number of cases has dropped, however, health officials continue to warn people to practice caution owing to several variants and subvariants.

The SpaceX chief had raised questions about the accuracy of Covid-19 tests in November 2020 after his tests claimed he was positive twice and later negative on the same day.

Musk was recently spotted dancing his heart out at the opening of Tesla’s factor in Germany. Musk was at the Gigafactory in Gruenheide, Germany overseeing the delivery of Tesla’s first German-made cars. Several videos of the billionaire shaking a leg later went viral on social media.
