Elon Musk in flashback mode, recalls he came to the US with no money and graduated with over $100K debt

Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, took Twitter by surprise when he tweeted about his modest beginning. The Time Magazine’s Person of The Year, Musk, who is known for his online brawl with politicians who target him over taxes, tweeted about his humble beginnings.

The founder of Tesla and SpaceX was responding to a tweet that was acknowledging his efforts towards increasing American exports.

“I came to the US with no money & graduated with over $100k in debt, despite scholarships & working 2 jobs while at school,” Musk wrote in a response to the tweet.

A user by the name WholeMarsBlog had written, “When he was 17, @elonmusk came to America. He has generated wealth for this country. He has generated tax revenue for our government. He has increased American exports. He has, in my opinion, advanced our national security. He’s created jobs & minted millionaires.”

The user went on to say, “For some reason, it’s not really cool to appreciate it these days, but he has done more for this country than any of our moronic political leaders.”

Musk’s tweet comes close on the heels with his recent Twitter brawl with US Senator Elizabeth Warren who accused him of freeloading. The exchange of incisive tweets between Musk and Warren went viral, with many supporting Musk.
Senator Warren had tweeted, “Let’s change the rigged tax code so The Person of the Year will actually pay taxes and stop freeloading off everyone else.” Musk in a series of Tweets had sent a strong rebuttal to the politician. He went on to call her Senator Karen and likened her to someone who seemed like his childhood friend’s angry mother.
