This isn't the first time Musk has advocated for Twitter as something more than a micro-blogging platform since the announcement of $8 monthly subscription service for blue-tick badge. Twitter's new owner had previously said that his social media platform is "simply the most interesting place on the Internet."
Billionaire Elon Musk, who recently took control of Twitter and became the new CEO of the micro-blogging platform, called the social network a "collective super-intelligence" which could be humanity's hope against the rise of artificial intelligence.

For many years, Musk, the world's richest man, has warned humans that one day AI could outsmart and endanger us, calling the artificial intelligence the biggest threat to civilisation.

In one of his tweets on Wednesday, the Tesla chief said that humans can actually benefit from Twitter by using its collective brain-power to counter AI because the micro-blogging platform is a "collective, cybernetic super-intelligence".

"Because it consists of billions of bidirectional interactions per day, Twitter can be thought of as a collective, cybernetic super-intelligence," Musk said, adding that there was still "a lot of room for improvement".
Through his tweets, Musk suggested that Twitter can be seen as a group mind or "hive mind". A group mind is where multiple minds or consciousnesses are linked into one collective intelligence.

However, a group of people on the "collective, cybernetic super-intelligence" thing called Twitter disagreed with Musk's comparison.

"Which is part of the problem. We're not made to be interconnected to everyone in a collective super-intelligence. Social media, and the incessant stream of others thoughts is part of why we have mood regulation issues, low-self esteem, etc.," wrote one person on Twitter.
Some even joked about Musk trying to plug everyone to the Matrix.
Whereas Liana Kerzner, a TV host, slammed Musk for charging people to use the platform. She was referring to Twitter's recent announcement about rolling out a monthly subscription service of $8 for acquiring the blue-tick badge on the platform.

"Then charging people to use it is ransoming that intelligence, and therefore unethical. An intelligence has personhood," Kerzner wrote.
While another person said that charging an $8 fee for blue checks is a huge "charge of brain chemistry" if Twitter is a "big brain". "OK, let's go with @elonmusk's metaphor: twitter is a big brain. Then putting an 8$ price on blue checks is a huge change of brain chemistry," the person replied to Musk.
Many Twitter users also accused Musk of throwing big sci-fi words to convince people to buy the social network's $8 monthly subscription service for blue-tick badge.

Musk on Wednesday announced that the verification blue tick in front of a user's name that authenticates the account will be charged $8 dollars per month soon, which prompted outrage and disbelief among some longtime users.

With the $8 monthly fee, Twitter users will also get priority in replies, mentions, and searches, which the billionaire said is essential to defeating spam/scams, as well as the ability to post long video and audio, half as many ads, and paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with the social media company.
