Elio OTT release date announce: When and where to watch Pixar's animated movie online

Disney and Pixar’s animated sci-fi adventure Elio is all set to land on home screens this September. The film, which follows the story of a curious young boy who accidentally becomes Earth’s representative to alien civilizations, made its theatrical debut in June this year. The film reportedly minted $72 million in the U.S. and $153 million worldwide after its theatrical release. Now, audiences who missed it in theatres will soon get a chance to experience it from home.

Elio will be available to stream on Disney+ and JioHotstar (via OTTplay Premium) starting September 17, 2025. The announcement was made on social media by Pixar. After a decent box office run, according to Variety, the film is now aiming to find a wider audience on streaming platforms. With school holidays in full swing in many regions, the timing of the release couldn’t be better for families looking for an fun weekend watch.




The story revolves around Elio Solis, an 11-year-old boy with a vivid imagination and a deep fascination with space and alien life. Living with his aunt Olga, Elio often feels like a misfit on Earth. But when he unexpectedly gets beamed up into an alien council known as the Communiverse, a misunderstanding leads the aliens to believe that Elio is Earth’s official ambassador. What follows is a wild and heartfelt journey across galaxies as Elio tries to maintain the lie while figuring out who he really is.

One of the emotional highlights of the film is Elio’s growing friendship with Glordon, the insecure son of space warlord Lord Grigon. Despite being caught in a lie, Elio's honest emotions and unlikely bond with Glordon become crucial in diffusing an interplanetary crisis. The film ends on a warm note, with Elio returning home with a stronger sense of identity and belonging, having realized that his place on Earth may not be so bad after all.


The voice cast brings the characters to life brilliantly. Yonas Kibreab voices Elio and his clone, while Zoe Saldana lends her voice to Aunt Olga. Remy Edgerly plays Glordon, Brad Garrett voices Lord Grigon, and other alien ambassadors are voiced by Brandon Moon, Matthias Schweighöfer, and Ana de la Reguera. The film is co-directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Adrian Molina, and represents a creative collaboration between Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.
