Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO, Eicher Motors, the makers of Royal Enfield, has twin passions: motorcycles and football. Lal admittedly likes the "feeling of an underdog," and that reflects in the choice of teams he supports.

Last weekend, Lal was in Cardiff, Wales, watching a World Cup rugby match. He supported the underdogs, France, against the All Blacks (New Zealand).

During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Lal was rooting for an African win. He hoped one of the teams from the host continent, including Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria or Algeria, lifted the cup. Unfortunately, the underdogs didn’t triumph either time. That’s unlikely to deter Lal. Credited with decisively shedding the underdog tag attached to Enfield, he knows the importance of betting on one.
