Effects of alcohol: As drinks add up, brain gets totalled
Following corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar's drunk driving accident, neurologist Dr Amitabh Varma explains the effects of alcohol.

Drink 1-2
When you have one to two drinks, both of which are 45ml each, the functions of the front area of your brain slow down. Your thinking process and reaction time lessens. Your motor action is also affected.
Drink 2-4
Emotions start running high and this is the time when people tend to become emotional and argumentative. You can also fi nd that people who have consumed more than 2 drinks will also start talking a lot of big things. Many of which they will not be able to recall later.
Drink 5-10
Post four drinks, they may start to lose balance and fall. Their speech becomes severely impaired. Beyond this they begin to feel drowsy and some people even fall asleep.
