Edelweiss MF boss says her education was a goal for her parents, not saving for marriage

Indian parents often spend a major part of their lives saving up for and worrying about their child's weddings.

Radhika Gupta, MD & CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, often takes to Twitter to share life lessons, investment advice and also personal anecdotes with her 107.2K followers. And the weekend had the AMC boss think back to the days prior to her wedding.

The 38-year-old said 'saving for marriage' was never a goal for her parents, rather they wanted to give her the best education they could afford.


"Saving for marriage was never a goal, because they knew if I was financially independent, marriage would take care of itself. Girl or guy, saving up for education is 1st goal," Gupta tweeted.


She went on to reveal that she had "a beautiful but not extravagant wedding, just the way we wanted."

"And even though my parents or I both could have afforded to fund it, we shared the expenses. It felt just right!," she added.
