Edelweiss chairman Rashesh Shah's advice to entrepreneurs: Give up the startup energy to scale up
What happens when a startup is no longer just a startup but looking to scale up? According to Edelweiss chairman Rashesh Shah, sometimes, when entrepreneurs dip their feet in the scalingup whirlpool, their capabalities are not as productive.

“Often, entrepreneurs are very good at starting things. But the same capabilities, which were good at the startup stage, sometimes, becomes counterproductive when it comes to scaling up or institutionalisation. A lot of entrepreneurs lose that passion then,” Shah said, speaking at a corporate CSR conference in Mumbai recently.

Recal ling the time when Edelweiss was on its path of growth, Shah said he would get complaints about how the organisation was losing its “closeness”. He had one answer to those questions — “We don’t want closeness. We want to scale up and you have to give up some of that startup energy to really scale up.”.
