Dussehra 2023: From Anand Mahindra to Alia Bhatt, celebs & bosses gather on social media to bid farewell to Ma Durga

Dussehra (also known as Vijayadashami in West Bengal), was observed on October 24. Many celebs and public figures took to X (formerly Twitter) to wish their fans and well-wishers a joyous Dussehra.

Sachin Tendulkar, the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) of cricket wished his fans a safe and happy Dussehra to his followers and encouraged them to “keep batting for the right cause,” as the day signifies the victory of good over evil. “Happy #Dussehra to all celebrating Vijayadashami! Just as the ball sails over the boundary, may the triumph of good over evil clear all the hurdles in your life. Keep batting for the right cause. Stay blessed! #VijayaDashami,” he tweeted.

Business tycoon Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, tweeted that Dussehra is the most relevant festival in the world, as it signifies the ultimate triumph of all that is good and righteous.


Kalaari Capital MD Vani Kola shared some pictures of books, cars being garlanded with flowers on LinkedIn and wrote that this was a part of the Ayudha Puja rituals. Typically celebrated on the ninth day of Navratri, it involves paying tribute to tools and equipment we use for our livelihood.

Taking a trip down the memory lane, the entrepreneur reminisced, "While growing up we placed our books, backpack, pencil cases, etc. Now, in our household, it is the laptop, phone and airpods."

Cricketer Suresh Raina shared a picture of Lord Rama charging at the ten-headed avatar of Ravana with an arrow and wrote, “Wishing everyone a joyous and happy #Dussehra! May this auspicious day fill your life with the light of goodness, prosperity, strength, and the blessings of Lord Rama.”

Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt also wished her fans a happy ‘Dussehra’. Taking to Instagram, the ‘Gagubai Kathiawadi’ star uploaded a colourful picture of Lord Rama aiming his arrow.

‘The Kashmir Files’ star Anupam Kher shared an animated clip of Lord Rama on his Instagram, and wrote, “Best wishes to all of you on the auspicious Dussehra!”

Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu also shared a similar picture of Lord Rama on his Instagram stories and wished his fans a happy and prosperous Dussehra.

National Award-winning Telugu star Allu Arjun shared a picture of the Goddess being worshipped on the sets of his upcoming film on Instagram and wrote, “Happy Dussehra to each and everyone of you!” The ‘Desamuduru’ star recently became the first actor from Tollywood to bag the National Award, for his splendid performance as a small-time sandalwood smuggler in the 2021 film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’.

Superstar Chiranjeevi shared a stunning painting of the Goddess and wrote, “Happy Dussehra to All! May Maa Durga give us the strength to ward off the evil! May the festive spirit of Navratri spread cheers and foster goodness around and in our thoughts!! “

‘Arjun Reddy’ star Vijay Deverakonda shared glimpses of Dussehra celebrations with his family and wrote, “Happy family poojas. Happy Dasara to all of you.”

‘Baahubali’ star Anushka Shetty shared a magnificent picture of Goddess Durga and tweeted, “Wish you all a very Happy Dussehra!” In the picture, the painting of Durga appears heavily garlanded.

Dassara: A Day That Signifies The Triumph Of Good Over Evil

This is an auspicious yet bittersweet day for Hindu devotees all across the world as they get ready to bid farewell to Goddess Durga, as she starts her journey to her husband’s home - the Kailash mountains. It also signals the end of the nine-day Navratri festival. It is also considered a day to celebrate the triumph of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana. In West Bengal, Vijaya Dashami is celebrated to commemorate the victory of Maa Durga over the demon king Mahishasura.
