Droid Turbo: A super-powered smartphone

There have been lots of leaked documents and images ahead of Verizon’s Droid Turbo announcement. But the most important thing you need to know is that it has guts to spare and a battery that keeps you going for days.

Motorola built the Droid Turbo with metalised fiber glass and “ballistic nylon”, two separate options to choose from. Additionally, the Droid comes with Corning Gorilla Glass and nano-coating inside and out to make it waterproof.

Motorola’s ring flash on the back has been replaced by a dual LED alternative, and only one speaker sits on the front of the device. “Droid put Android on the map,” says Motorola’s Jeff Miller. “We’ve been working to make sure you get Android Lollipop as an upgrade, guaranteed.”

The Droid Turbo’s 5.2-inch screen comes in 2K definition. Its Snapdragon 805 processor gains additional support with 3 GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage (a 64GB exists in only ballistic nylon) and an absolutely gargantuan 3900 mAh battery to power it all.

“With Droid Turbo, we introduce 48 hours of battery life, a combination of software and 3900 mAh battery,” Misller says. As for its camera, the Turbo is outfi tted with a 21-megapixel sensor that can capture 4K video. You can access the camera with Quick Capture by just fl icking your wrist. The Droid Turbo runs on 4G LTE network, is XLTE ready and will be available in the US from October 30.
