Karan Singh, ACG Worldwide MD, on the luxury wheels that are instant adrenaline boosters.

My first car
“It was the Honda Prelude 1992 model which I drove for over eight years between 1995 and 2002. It was a two-door sports coupe that was one of the fastest on Indian roads at the time. I spent Rs 5 lakh and completely modified it as per my taste. It was a real head turner and cause of envy for my friends. I sold my car in 2002 as I wanted someone else to have the pleasure of driving it the way I did. I then upgraded to the BMW- 650i which was with me for over seven years.”

Currently I drive…
“The Aston Martin DB11 650 BHP V12 cylinder twin turbo engine satisfies my thirst for power and need for speed. This beast is my adrenaline booster. For longer drives, I prefer the BMW-M5, it is a statement of engineering skill and driving intelligence. The M5 is the fastest sedan in the world. It is luxurious and also offers speed and power. I also own a BMW Mini Cooper S, which is a logical car for the traffic-stricken Mumbai roads. It is deceptively powerful and gives me the necessary thrust while driving."

The best road trip…
“The drive through the Amalfi Coast in Italy between Rome and Sorrento. It offers spectacular views of the most beautiful vineyards, monasteries, castles, the Mediterranean Sea, as well as amazing home-cooked food at quaint restaurants.”

My favourite car scene in a movie
“There is a scene in Gone in Sixty Seconds when Nicholas Cage jumps into ‘Elanor’ — a customised 1971 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 — and tries to escape the cops. What I like about that sequence is the start of this scene when Cage is shown to be so intimate with his car and speaks emotionally about it.”

My next car
“It will most likely be a Ferrari or the new hybrid Porsche.”

If I had to name my car…
“I would call it Flash.”

To a big awards night I’d arrive in…
“My Aston Martin. It looks classy, but is not in your face. The signature growl of its engine will attract a lot of attention.”
