In an interview with Variety, Pathak said, “I’m excited that the Drishyam franchise is being made in Korean. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, this 2013 Mohanlal starrer went on to be a box-office phenomenon as well as a critical success. After a series of successful remakes in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, the film went beyond Indian borders and was remade in Chinese. The Chinese adaptation titled ‘Sheep Without A Shepherd’ became a huge BO success in China, grossing $199.2 million!

The film revolves around a humble cable operator, who is forced to engage in a game of cat and mouse with the police to save his family from a sticky situation.

The original starred Malayalam superstar Mohanlal as George Kutty, a semi-literate film buff who gradually finds himself on the wrong side of the law when one of his daughters ends up killing her harasser in self-defense. Kutty runs a race against time (and the law) to save his loved ones from getting arrested.
