Dear Dr D,
You may have seen this report that my lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter to the US President to stop using our song ‘Livin’ On The Edge’ at his rallies as he enters.
The letter said, “Mr Trump is creating the false impression that our client has given his consent for the use of his music, and even that he endorses the presidency of Mr Trump.” On the one hand, of course this is about politics.
On the other hand, and this is what I came to you for, it is also about aesthetics. I’m an artist, man. I imagine stuff and then give it life as music.
But Trump has totally ruined my life’s work for me. I cannot listen to any of my songs without hearing his voice mauling our precious lyrics.

In 2002, a woman from Texas, Marie Schoedinger, had accused Bush of allegedly kidnapping, drugging and raping her. The woman also filed a $50 million lawsuit against him after her statements made headlines. However, in what is debated as the Bush administration’s biggest cover-up, Schoedinger was found dead with a suicide note just months after filing the lawsuit.

Nixon’s legacy might be marred by the Watergate scandal, but he also had a lawsuit to his name. Arthur Ernest Fitzgerald, a former US government employee, sued Nixon in 1968 after he was fired for testifying before Congress a cost discrepancy worth $2.3 billion in an aircraft program. Though Fitzgerald lost the suit, his case was instrumental in drafting the Whistle-blower Protection Act.
