Songs for the birthday boy

Dear Dr D I used to be a rich and famous singer, currently in India. I am singing at the birthday of someone who used to be rich. I am not familiar with the crowd or the man but I have read some of the stories about his high-flying past. Based on that I have modified some songs and prepared a list. Could you tell me if the list is appropriate for a has-been billionaire’s bash?

- Bailamode (and bail me out, banks)

- Like a Virgin (Airlines - Not)

- Till debt do us part

- I still haven’t found what I’m looking for (your damn salary money)

- Smells like teen spirit (but actually I’m 60)

- Help!

- Empire state of mind (on empty pockets)

- Hotel California (in case the CBI come calling again)

- Something in the air (it ain’t my planes)

- Losin’ my religion (but keeping my offshore accounts)

- Black Dog

- Red red wine

- Love of the common people

- Creep

- Everybody hurts

- Redemption song (fuggedaboutit)

Dear Enrique

It is an excellent list and appropriate.

I would add, just for some local colour, a couple of Hindi songs. I do not read the newspapers but I suspect I know whose birthday is being celebrated. May I suggest that you learn the lyrics to these two?

....Paisa yeh paisa

....Golmaal hai bhai sab golmaal hai.
