Down memory lane: Nirupama Rao remembers her Civil Services exam result

The recent news of a woman once again scoring the top rank at the All India Civil Services Examination, brought back memories of a retired, veteran woman bureaucrat who topped the same examination 42 years ago (1973).

Nirupama Rao, the second woman Indian Foreign Secretary (head of IFS) and ambassador to the US, China and Peru, reminisced her joining IFS by sharing photos of the acceptance letter to IFS and a black and white photo of herself at that time on Twitter.
